About this series
"Ewan Shaw and Mara Lynn are preparing for a lavish wedding when Faye Shaw, their mother, travels alone to the city to attend. Memories flood back as she recounts the arduous journey of fostering Ewan two decades prior. Mara, meanwhile, nitpicks relentlessly over the wedding venue, laying bare her arrogance. On the streets, Faye steps in to stop a pickpocket and is mistaken for a jade bracelet thief by Mara's parents. She endures a beating and humiliation, met with cold indifference from onlookers — planting the seed of an identity conflict. To shield her son's wedding, Faye hides the truth, claiming she simply tripped. Eager to climb the social ladder, Mara's parents mistake a bystander for Faye and drop their pursuit of the thief, only to confront Faye in the bridal suite. Ewan gifts his mother a new phone.
Mara feigns warmth but secretly scorns it. When Faye tidies the vanity, Mara mistakes her for a cleaner and abuses her while forcing her to change her veil — the torn veil igniting the conflict. Mara's family attacks Faye in the suite, falsely accusing her of theft and sabotage, even stomping on her fingers. Faye fights to guard her phone (holding Ewan's childhood photos and adoption papers) to prove her innocence. Just then, Ewan returns, catching his mother being beaten. Her phone slips, revealing critical evidence: a screensaver of young Ewan and Faye. The truth is about to unravel, tearing off the Mara's hypocritical mask."
