The Griffith Park fire threatens Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Kristen Stewart's Los Angeles homes.
Griffith Park's wildfire, near the Hollywood sign, sparked a major emergency.
The fire started in the 2600 block of North Nottingham Avenue at 2.43pm PT.
The brush fire was contained around 4pm PT. “Nearly all active flame has been eliminated and forward progress stopped after one hour and twelve minutes,” LAFD said.
An LAPD spokeswoman told The Sun, "We have a person of interest in the Griffith Park observatory fire."
Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie, live 5 minutes from where the fire was raging.
Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, bought a $6 million home near the blaze.
Natalie Portman, Aaron Paul, and Jon Hamm also own homes in the upscale neighbourhood.
Nearly 100 firefighters battled the blazes with two helicopters dropping water from above.
The fire started near Griffith Park's Boy Scout Trail, south of the observatory. It is a popular hiking and dog walking destination.
