Rocket League's voice chat is now on by default, so many players will fall victim to it. Thankfully, there's a way to disable it.
When you start Rocket League, click "Settings."
To access settings, press cross (or A). In this menu, turn off R1 (or RB) or click "Chats."
Click the first box under Voice chat settings to disable it.

If you want to communicate with your team during the game, leave the push to talk. Until you press a button, this option keeps you unmuted.
If you don't want to see other players' text chat, you can turn it off in the top left corner of the screen.
Change the PC's input and output devices if you want a different microphone.
