In December 2021, High School Musical stars Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman spoke to ET about reuniting to play love interests again in the Lifetime holiday movie A Christmas Dance Reunion. During the interview, the topic came up about whether they would be returning for another High School Musical movie.
Blue admitted that what attracted him most in the world was the idea of working with actors again. He told ET, “When it comes to the relationships of all of us in the cast, we’ve been through a lot. […] The time spent together has changed my life, obviously creating this very strong root relationship, so every time I see someone it’s just a celebration of love. So getting the chance to work together again would be great,” Coleman replied, expressing her love for Taylor’s character, adding that another story is always within the realm of possibility.
Meanwhile, Blue believes the cast should come together for a live performance to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary in 2026. Blue introduced: “Live at the Hollywood Bowl. [One] only night … Kenny Ortega is directing live with an orchestra and all of us just with a microphone, with our scripts, and just to combine all three films into some [one-night-only] path. I really feel like people would fly in from all over the world to be part of something like this. And it’s actually something interesting that I would like to do and would like to see.” Blue sort of made a comeback, appearing in the third season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – but as himself, not as Chad.
