To her credit, Christina Ricci has generally stuck to her enduring legacy as a burgeoning Wednesday Addams goth queen throughout her career (according to Bustle). The actor certainly isn’t starring in Wednesday, and Scream’s breakout Jenna Ortega landed the coveted role. Although we still don’t know who Ricci is playing in the new series, the actor said in a recent interview with the portal Collider she’s returned to the fantasy, dark comedy world of The Addams Family because it really resonates with her on a primal level. “And, you know, I’ve always considered myself to be kind of a natural adversary,” Ricci stated, adding, “And so being in a world where everyone is just ecstatic about doing the wrong thing. It’s just great for me, I love it.”
Ricci went on to say that she was also thrilled to be teaming up with her Sleepy Hollow director Tim Burton again on Wednesday, who is directing several episodes of the upcoming series. She went on to add that it was a legitimate honor for her “to be part of a new version of this thing that is a huge part of my identity, my history and my life.” Christina Ricci will appear on Wednesday alongside Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendolyn Christie, Ricky Lindhome and more. While no official release date has been announced, the series will reportedly debut this fall. And we can’t wait to see what weird, weird and/or creepy pranks this incredible cast gets into.
