Halliwell Manor’s iconic image is a blast from the past, and perhaps it was meant to evoke nostalgia. But that’s not what happened when original fans found out about the inclusion. There was no joy in the fandom. Instead, Reddit fans saw it as an act of huge disrespect.
“[T]his sudden need to connect both shows came too late as the reboot has always been obsessed with making OG feel like it doesn’t exist anymore, along with excluding most Charmed fans,” Redditor noted. u/TalviSyreni. From the beginning, a clear division was established between the reboot and the original series. Marketing called this version of the series feminist, implying that the original series did nothing at the time to promote women on television. It was something Holly Marie Combs from the original cast definitely disagreed with when she took on Twitter. This double entender remark about the original series made fans feel that the possible inclusion of Halliwell Manor was salt in the wound.
“I find it funny, this reboot started with them trashing the original and now ended up with them trying to connect both ‘universes’, most likely in a last ditch attempt to attract viewers.” u/zjmspears published. Although Enchanted Writers claiming to harbor nothing but love for the original, it’s easy to see how fans have developed their cynical outlook.
