Ice Road Truckers star Lisa Kelly discussed perspective about the return of the series in a video interview with the transport publication Overdrive. As their discussion drew to a close, interviewer Max Hein asked Kelly if she had any further comments on anything they hadn’t covered yet.
“The show has been on hiatus for a while and I want it to come back. I know it’s been talked about, but I feel like this whole COVID thing kind of put an end to everything,” Kelly said. “So, I don’t know. That’s the whole change. I don’t know what will happen.”
Heine then asked Kelly about how the pandemic has affected Alaska’s trucking industry. Kelly responded that the overall workload has been significantly reduced as a result of rising oil and gas prices, perhaps further explaining why the pandemic could temporarily ban the return of “ice truckers”.
In a 2020 interview Discounts on wheels, Ice Road Truckers co-star Alex Debogorski revealed that he gets along with some of his co-stars better than others, though he singled out Kelly as someone he keeps in touch with. So while the prospect of a return of The Ice Road Truckers is up in the air at best, Kelly and Debogorski at least seem to have a friendly working relationship.
