Here, she’s referring to a hilarious scene early in the series in which Sasha Braus (Yu Kobayashi/Ashly Burch) is caught eating potatoes during basic training. The moment is so memorable that both fans in real life and the characters on the show still regularly refer to Sasha as “potato girl”.

Nishimura went on to reveal that she also read Armin Arlert (Marina Inoue/Josh Grell) before reluctantly auditioning for the role of Mikasa. “Well, that won’t happen,” she recalled with a laugh. “But of course I will read for her. And I was incredibly surprised that I was chosen because so many people wanted to be part of the project.”

In any case, since Nishimura jumped at that chance, she ended up landing the role of a fan-favorite character who is regularly seen as a spinning blade of terror that can tear apart both titans and humans with ease.
