In Season 10, Episode 1 “Saturday Night Live”, Martin Short plays Lawrence, a man who can’t swim but wants to be the first to bring men’s synchronized swimming to the Olympics along with his brother Gerald played by the future. The Simpsons voice actor Harry Shearer. The couple want to introduce a new category at the 1992 Olympics, where they’re sure – after Lawrence learns to swim – they’ll be a castle for gold. Watching the two practice their moves while Lawrence struggles in his life jacket is still hilarious.

On August 18, entertainment journalist Danny Derani tweeted: share clip from an outline with the caption: “I remind you that SNL Synchronized Swimming is the best short film ever made.” Obviously others agreed. At the time of writing, the clip has been retweeted nearly 2,500 times. Quotes in retweets @maxrieper said, “One of the best comedy sketches of all time,” and @bluerosepat added, “This thread brought back some memories and laughter.” The tweet clip even provided a fresh take on the sketch, including @orlamwilsonwho tweeted: “I’ve never seen this, it made me laugh!!”

The reaction to the sketch just shows that great comedy exists.
