In an interview with Us weeklyMayim Bialik revealed that in real life, she and Jim Parsons share a similar trait to their smart Big Bang Theory characters, which has been, and continues to be, the key to their working partnership.
“Jim and I had a lot of great moments together on set, and I think one of the things that worked so well for us as casting partners and maybe as producing partners is that we don’t really sentimental as people, which I think is useful,” she said. “It was helpful in our game and also in how we sort of handled the end of the decade together.”
Putting your emotions aside was especially handy when Sheldon and Amy finally tied the knot in the Season 11 finale “Bow Tie Asymmetry.” Not only was it difficult to put on a wedding dress given Bialik’s 2012 divorce from Michael Stone, but she also struggled with body image issues at the time. She said People“I didn’t feel well. I felt bad about it. Even though everyone said I looked great, I didn’t feel completely beautiful.”
But since Parsons was there during the filming of these scenes, she handled them perfectly, even with a little laugh. “I love Jim Parsons as my colleague and friend,” she said. “While it’s sometimes hard to keep a straight face while saying such sweet things, there’s no one I’d say that to better than Jim.”
