Speaking in front of the audience social mediaBob Odenkirk has expressed deep gratitude to the Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad fan base for allowing him and the showrunners to peel off all the layers of Saul Goodman’s onion over the past six seasons.
“Thank you for giving us a chance,” Odenkirk said quietly, looking directly into the camera. “We came out of possibly the most beloved show of many people. [Breaking Bad] and we might be hated just for trying to make [spin-off] show. But we weren’t. We were given a chance, and I hope we took it. Thank you for staying with us.” Odenkirk went on to beautifully describe the overall essence of Better Call Saul, saying, “A closely watched, idiosyncratic story about a very unique guy – a bit long at times, but in the end, if you paid attention, it was about big, big things inside people.” .
Those who watched the August 15 finale of Better Call Saul already know that things aren’t looking too good for Goodman of Odenkirk, aka McGill, after the emotionally charged episode wraps up. An alternate ending was also filmed that would have left the story a bit more open to the criminal defense lawyer, but it ended up being scrapped by the showrunners. “It felt like, maybe in a weird way, there was more of a story,” co-creator Peter Gould told the publication. Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, Odenkirk has previously said that he’s excited about what’s in store for him in the future as an actor and ultimately wants to leave Saul Goodman behind. “I want to do something different,” he told reporters in early August (via Popular culture). “I’m excited to do something tonally different and then something completely tonally different from that.”
