Amy Schumer comments on social media, Tom Holland fans slam comedian as MCU actor takes mental health leave
Recently, Amy Schumer came under fire for posting a spoof video that mocked users who take social media breaks for their mental health and wellbeing.
Hours before his tweet, MCU actor Tom Holland revealed that he would be taking a sabbatical from social media in order to better take care of his mental health. In her video, Schumer made a light-hearted joke about how social media had improved her mental health and that she would be posting more content there:
Hello everyone. I made the decision to use social media more for my own mental health. I have found that staring at my phone for 8.5 hours a day benefits me. And he helps with that escape and button patch.
She went on to say that watching internet programs like Love Island and The Bachelors further improved her physical and mental well-being:
And since I’m in my 40s, it’s really beneficial for me to watch every episode of The Bachelor and Love Island. whether they are in paradise or just regular residences. As a result, you will see me a lot more on social media for my own physical and mental health.
In contrast, Tom Holland revealed in his video that he frequently finds Twitter and Instagram to be “overstimulating and overwhelming”. Additionally, he said reading about himself on social media had been “damaging” to his mental health and he had made the decision to step down.
“I’ve taken a break from social media for the sake of my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter to be too stimulating, overwhelming, I get caught up and spiraling when I read things about me online , and ultimately it’s very bad for my mental state, so I took a step back and deleted the app,” the user said.
Holland urged people to communicate more openly about mental health issues and urged his fans to donate to Stem4, a foundation that promotes positive mental health for young people.
Although celebrities such as Chelsea Handler, Orlando Bloom and Michelle Pfeiffer have praised Amy Schumer’s remarks about social media and mental health, the video has upset some Tom Holland fans.
Twitter responds to Amy Schumer’s comments on social media and mental health
Celebrities have become increasingly vocal about their mental health issues over time, and they’ve also urged others to take social media breaks for their mental health.
Tom Holland is the most recent celebrity to declare his intention to stop using Twitter and Instagram due to the negative effects of social media on his mental health. Shortly after making her announcement, Amy Schumer joked about taking social media breaks for mental health in a parody video.
As the comedian received encouragement from some of his famous friends, Tom Holland supporters attacked her online for allegedly mocking the actor’s social media hiatus.
Many people also criticized Schumer for his video on Twitter:
Is Tom Holland’s Instagram Video Parodied or Answered by Amy Schumer? Like it’s no fun
But when Tom started opening up about his mental health, Amy Schumer made an uncomfortable statement. She’s unattractive, unfunny, and a doodoo brain.
You don’t feel embarrassed? When Tom shared his struggle and vulnerability, then expressed his support for the group that helps young people improve their mental health, did you just laugh? @amyschumer disgusting
Amy lamented, “Wah, they wouldn’t let me crack bad jokes during the Oscars. I am really disappointed. She needs to pull herself together because she’s really in her 40s and isn’t serious when she mocks Tom in a tantrum.
It’s unfortunate that Amy Schumer did the Oscars slap on him so I’m not even surprised she’s making fun of Tom but it’s just plain rude to do so when he was supporting the causes of youth mental health.
[email protected] LEAVE TOM BEHIND.
I want you to never forget that it is because of people like you that so many people around the world suffer in silence and are reluctant to admit they have mental illnesses. It’s not about Tom; it’s about millions of people like me who struggle every day to avoid being ridiculed by weirdos like you.
not Amy Schumer mocking Tom, like when is she ever going to shut up?
@amyschumer Get a real job, stop making people laugh and leave Tom alone.

It’s unclear if Amy Schumer will respond to Tom Holland fans in the coming days as comments on the internet continue to pour in.
