Mr Marinakis has bought a majority stake in Nottingham Forest, an English Premiership side that have won two European Cups. At the start of 2019, the club launched a £50 million redevelopment project at City Ground to turn it into a world-class 38,000 seater stadium.
On 18 May 2017, Evangelos Marinakis completed the purchase of Nottingham Forest, ending Al-stint Hasawi’s ownership of the team. Forest chairman Nicholas Randall promised the team would play in Europe again in five years. However, Forest continued to compete in the Championship four years into the Marinakis spell due to sub-par transfers and a toxic club environment.
The club was created in the summer of 2021 with structural changes to correct past mistakes.
