On the evening of June 21, the athlete was found dead in his Baltimore home. After failing to bring him back to life, doctors declared him dead at the scene. Police said there were no signs of trauma and nothing suspicious had happened based on what they had found so far.

On June 21, 2022, Jaylon died at the age of 26. On Saturday, his funeral was held in Bains, Louisiana, where he grew up.
