Grantchester Returns for Season 8! ITV and PBS have renewed Masterpiece, which is already filming new episodes. Starring James Norton, Robson Green, Tessa Peake-Jones, Tom Brittney, Al Weaver, Casey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Gary Beadle, Bradley Hall, Felix Scott, Skye Lucia Degruttola and Gemma Redgrave. during the 1950s.

ITV revealed more about the drama’s revival in a press release.

Fan-favorite crime drama Granchester will return for an eighth season on ITV and MASTERPIECE PBS in the US.

Filming has begun on the hugely popular show produced by Kudos (UK company Banijay), with Robson Green returning as Inspector Geordie Keating and Tom Britney as Reverend Will Davenport.

Will is the happiest man he’s ever been, but a terrible accident will rock his world. He has always preached the word of a compassionate God – but how can he now, when his desperation is leading him into a dangerous downward spiral?

Jordie has found new fulfillment in his relationship with Katie, but when they both face shocking job announcements, their happiness is in jeopardy. As Mrs. C, Leonard, Jack, and Daniel team up, Will and Geordie find themselves in unfamiliar, emotional waters, and murder is always on the horizon.

Grantchester’s eighth season will range from Speedway to spies, exploring the lives of invisible women and the highly visible issues brought about by Leonard’s new calling, which could have him fighting the law again.

Exploring faith, forgiveness and redemption, this explosive series tests Will and Jordie to their limits.

Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts) returns as Bonnie, along with Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Casey Ainsworth as Katie Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe and Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman .

Special guest actors for this series include Sean Dingwall (Best Boy, Tic Tac Toe), Jeff Rawle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Doc Martin) and Jemima Rooper (Gold Digger, The Girl “).

Drama Commissioner Chloe Tucker will oversee the production from ITV’s perspective.

The series will be executive produced for Kudos (part of Banijay UK) by Emma Kingsman-Lloyd (Deadwater Fell, Humans), writer/series creator Daisy Coolam (Deadwater Fell, Humans), Robson Green and Tom Brittney. MASTERPIECE is executive produced by Rebecca Eaton and Suzanne Simpson of GBH Boston.

The series, adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie, was developed for television by Daisy Coolum. Writers for this series include Richard Cookson (episode one), Helen Black (episode three), Anita Vettes (episode four), and Richard Cookson and Carla Williams (episode five).

The series is being directed by Rob Evans, Al Weaver (who will make his directorial debut) and Martin Smith.”
