During the Season 2 episode “Beyond the Hill of Thousand Swords”, the group is confronted by the Abyss (Chance Crawford) and his whale support Lucy. Instead of avoiding her, the Butcher drives right through the problem in a speedboat, impaling Lucy on impact. From here, Butch, Hughie (Jack Quaid) and company are forced to crawl out of another diabolical situation that Karl Urban was shocked to see such a positive reception.
When asked Collider to pick the craziest moment in the series, Urban chose to highlight his confrontation with The Deep and Lucy and noted that he felt conflicted about the scene. “Personally, I love the ocean and marine life, so being part of the sequence in which the boat drives through the whale was pretty surreal,” admitted Urban. And yet, even with such outlandish moments, the show was still nominated for an award. Emmy for an outstanding drama series pitting The Boys against shows many didn’t expect it to compete with.
“They called the nominees with all these prestigious shows, like The Crown, where Prince Charles delivered great dialogue, and then you switched to The Boys, and there the boat hit the whale. That was great. ‘ Urban said.
And as it turns out, what we see on screen wasn’t the only wild part of the scene in question.
