Reports say Anne Heche is not expected to survive the severe brain injury she suffered in the fiery car crash she ended up in on August 5.

In an official statement to Variety, her rep confirmed the news that her health was worsening:

“We would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers for Anne’s recovery, as well as the staff and nurses at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital who cared for Anne.”

The person also said that the actress suffered from a “severe anoxic brain injury” and was still in a coma with no signs of improvement:

“Unfortunately, Anne Heche had an accident which left her brain without oxygen. She is still in a coma and in critical condition. No one thinks she will live.

Anne had a “huge heart” and would be remembered for her “honesty and light,” the statement said.

“Anne had a big heart and her caring spirit touched everyone she met. More than her extraordinary talent, she believed that her life’s work was to spread kindness and joy, including bringing acceptance to people who they love. She will be remembered for her courage and honesty, and her light will be sorely missed.

Heche crashed his blue Mini Cooper car into a two-story house in Los Angeles on Friday. The car caught fire. She suffered severe burns and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

This week, Heche’s rep told Entertainment Tonight that the Another World star had to undergo surgery to treat her burns and was then put into a coma:

“Right now, Anne’s condition is very, very bad. She has a serious lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and she has burns that require surgery. She’s in a coma and hasn’t woken up since the accident, which happened not too long ago.

Anne Heche is still receiving help to stay alive as doctors check whether her “choice to donate her organs” can still be realized. The LAPD is also investigating whether the actress was driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

A person close to Heche told Entertainment Tonight that his 20-year-old son Homer Laffoon has “been as strong as he can be” since the accident. He also makes sure his mother continues to receive the “best care” as she fights for her life.

Her ex-husband James Tupper sent his best wishes to Anne Heche by posting a photo of the actress with her 13-year-old son, Atlas.

Anne Heche was born in Aurora, Ohio on May 25, 1969, to Nancy and Donald Joseph Heche. She was the youngest of five children and she grew up with her four older siblings. His father died in 1983. He had been infected with HIV/AIDS.

Nathan, Heche’s 18-year-old brother, died in a terrible car accident about three months after him. Her younger sister Cynthia also died of a heart defect when she was young, and her older sister Susan, whom she was not close to, died of brain cancer.

Abigail is Heche’s only surviving sister and she makes jewelry. The actress also hasn’t spoken to her mother for a long time.

The 1997 relationship between the Daytime Emmy Award winner and Ellen DeGeneres made headlines. In 2001, Heche married cameraman Coleman “Coley” Laffoon, shortly after their split. In 2002, they had a son named Homer Laffoon. After more than five years of marriage, they broke up in 2007.

The divorce was finalized in 2009, which led to a public fight over who would get custody of their son. TMZ says Laffoon said Heche had “poor parenting skills” and acted “strange and crazy.”

During her time on The Late Show with David Letterman, the actress called her ex-husband a “lazy a**”. After a long legal battle, the judge decided that Heche and Laffoon would share custody of Homer as long as he remained in Los Angeles.

The judge also told Heche to pay $3,700 in child support and said the two should split the cost of Homer’s extracurricular activities.

After breaking up with Laffoon, Heche began dating her Men in Trees co-star James Tupper. In 2009, almost a year after moving in together, they had a son named Atlas. Sadly, they broke up in 2018 after being together for 10 years.

Anne Heche keeps most of her private life out of public view, so not much is known about her sons Homer and Atlas. But the actress is said to have kept a close relationship with her sons and often posted pictures of them on Instagram.
