While the whole world was watching the rescue efforts at Tham Luang Cave, no one was more concerned and interested than the parents of a dozen trapped children. One of these parents was Sombun Sompiangjai (according to CBC), played in Thirteen Lives by a Thai actor Teerawat Mulvilai.
In his acting career, Mulvilai hasn’t starred in many films – just 12 feature films in 20 years – but most of them have been major internationally acclaimed films from beloved directors filmed in Thailand.
He has worked with many famous directors from all over the world, including German director Werner Herzog, French director Jean-Jacques Annaud, Belgian horror maestro Fabrice du Welz, Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, Kiwi Martin Campbell and French Luc Besson. You can recognize Mulvilai from his big and small roles in Saving Dawn, Only God Forgives, Vignan, The Lady, Beyond, Around the World in 80 Days and The Two Brothers. Apart from the film industry, Malvilai is also an accomplished dancer and theater director in Thailand (according to Coconuts TV).
