In the Netflix series subreddit, u/ElsaJeanAsDineris released a poll with a caption urging fans to vote for their least favorite aspect of The Witcher season 1. The options were as follows: special effects, actors, script, music and “I liked everything.” The poll received about 350 votes, and more than 200 of those votes were classified as writers. Nearly everyone in the comments section has been discussing the series, comparing it to Game of Thrones or using crude terminology often associated with unscrupulous arguments.

Reddit user you/gitr_jnke came closest to the discussion, explaining, “It annoys me that the script is so incoherent because the source material is absolutely fantastic. story. They took too many liberties in the first season imo.”

Based on this, a common criticism of the writing of The Witcher is that the intentionally random chronology was not well received by the audience. To be fair, The Witcher seemed to realize this was a problem for viewers, so it changed the structure to create a more linear story for Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) in Season 2.
