During a conversation with Times of India In August, Lloyd Owen revealed that his character would have a sword, but declined to say if it would be the famous Violence or if fans would even see it forged in the first season. “There is a sword this season, but I can’t tell if it’s Violent or not,” he said.
What Owens is happy to enjoy is his excitement about Elendil’s character arc for the show’s first outing. “I’m so looking forward to [series co-creators] JD [John D. Payne] and Patrick [McKay] they write this hero involuntarily – a man who does not want to lead, lowering his head and experiencing the loss of his wife. It’s about how he should take responsibility. Tolkien’s theme is fate and awareness of one’s destiny,” he said. Owens goes on to explain that the Elendil arc in season one teaches him how to deal with the fact that he thought his original destiny was a peaceful life with a wife and children has changed and that he is now destined for something much more.
How grand? Fans will find out when the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hits Amazon Prime on September 2.
