If you liked how Prey tells the story of a woman fighting a ferocious inhuman monster and would like to continue that trend, there are plenty to choose from. But what if you’re specifically looking for something that will greatly enhance the horror? Look no further than The Descent.
Neil Marshall’s 2005 film follows a group of women, led by Sarah (Shauna Macdonald), who go to explore a cave system on the East Coast of the United States. Sarah is still recovering from a bereavement in the past, and her friends hope that caving will help her get out of the depression she finds herself in. albino insects. Something much wilder lurks in the dark, something that could eat them all alive before they could get to safety.
Intense, frightening, and with some really scary creature designs, The Descent is a great piece of survival horror that really dials in the horror of darkness and enclosed spaces when you’re surrounded by monsters that want to eat you. If you like “Prey” but wish it was scarier, this might be the perfect place to continue.
