Loki: the most popular show in MCU

Although the word-play is evident here, as Loki is considered the most popular tv series only within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When it comes to declaring the most-watched tv show on Disney+, some of the shows from Star Wars like The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett can easily take the throne, and Loki is not nearly as popular as these ones.

According to the data collected by SambaTv, around 900000 people watched Loki the day it premiered. However, fans are eagerly waiting for another season of Loki, and Marvel Studios is ready to deliver. Feige announced that season 2 of Loki will enter its production phase soon and all of the main casts of the show are returning for a second spin.

Reason for success

During an interview with Deadline, Kevin Feige talked about a ‘bold swing’ that was crucial to making the show a success. The reference was vague, to say the least, but it was roughly interpreted in the fact that the introduction of a female counterpart of the character ‘Loki’ gave the show an entirely fresh, new perspective.

In the show, the male Loki, portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, is more docile and less mischievous than how he used to be in the movies (and comics, too). On the other hand, the female Loki a.k.a Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino, is a rebel and a badass.

Drawing the line

To some of the fans, this move by Marvel is to profit from the dissection of a perfect character into two. Then again, the storyline of this show is from a completely different universe which is totally unrelated to the character from the movies where he lived being a villain and died trying to be a hero in the hands of Thanos.

This show begins after Avengers: Endgame when he tries to escape after the New York attack. It created an alternate timeline, which made Loki a fugitive in the eyes of the Time Variants Authority, a secret organization led by Kang the Conqueror.

Bringing in better talents

Unlike other series from Marvel where the story abruptly ends in the season finale, it was shown in Loki after the final credit that there is a possible continuation of the storyline which indicates the dropping of another season.

To sweeten the deal more, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, directors of the Moon Knight, are going to replace Kate Herron. Also, Eric Martin is appointed in place of Michael Waldron as the head writer.

In a nutshell, Marvel Studios is leaving no stone unturned to make the second season a bigger success than the first one.
