Gang rape of 15 year old...
This makes me FURIOUS!!! OK, just because you are a male, does that mean that you HAVE to give into mob mentality and act like an effing animal beating your chest and watching your counterparts rip someone to shreds (mentally AND physically)? Sure, your mom didn't have you knitting doilies, but didn't she tell you that this kind of behavior is not an option as a person? WTF is so compelling to want to brutalize or watch someone get brutalized versus helping them?
Is male acceptance that effing scary that you'd rather watch someone get raped for two hours than to go against another group of males???? I want to know what the thought process is here. For example, "If I don't go along with the group, they will……" WHAT? Cut your head off? Think you're gay? Ridicule you in school? I wanna know what is more scary than helping another human being. I'M SO MAD!!!!! Poor girl. What must she think? That her life is worth nothing? Not even worth a phone call? I wonder when she will recover from all this…if ever?
So help me, God, JVJ, if you come in here and say some jackass shit like "Well, if she wouldn't have been outside, this wouldn't have happened." I'm going to delete my account.

"This just gets worse and worse the more you dig into it," Gagan said. "It was like a horror movie after looking at the evidence. I can't believe not one person felt compelled to help her." - Officer Gagan
This is horrific. I can only offer my prayers to the girl and her family. Mob mentality is run amok these days. No one is raising our children, and no one seems to be winning.

It goes hand-in-hand with "inciting a riot", when one person gets into it they just can't stop. It's insane.
I keep thinking of "The Accused" with Jodie Foster, only this victim is 15 and probably was not under the influence.

But kudos to police for scouring youtube and such places for video of the incident.
You know someone was taking pictures and video.

Does it have to be him?
And what pisses me off is when someone who hears about this kinda shit thinks that all men act like this; some of us grow out of high school. Most of us aren't even like that when we're in high school.
And to further illustrate my quantity of annoyances; I really hate when people use things like this to further their own prejudices towards a race, religion or gender.
This is a very bad event that happened to this girl, regardless of the 20 / 20 hindsight of: she shouldn't have / they shouldn't have / where were the parents / teachers... or any number of hundreds of other shit that people like to take a tragedy and turn in to.

I didn't mean to insinuate that every man in the world is like this. If you read it that way, then...read it again.

I made that comment based on the facts that all individuals involved were, in fact, male.

I read it again and it still reads that way. Last I checked I speek da Englisch very much goodly, so I suspect it's not just a lack of comprehension.
It's a HORRIBLE situation, one which merits full investigation. I'll be curious about the outcome. I'll be curious to know if anything is ever uncovered which led to this as well.
As for the reference to the Jodie Foster movie, I think the topic itself merits some real discussion for modern women and men.

^^^ what he said
Example please?
JVJ comes to mind, using every thing he can find to illustrate his anti- feminist sentiment.
And What you said may spark the impression that you have your own prejudices towards men, and that this story only exasperates them.
Every person that dies in a DUI has people who will use it as a rally towards re-establishing prohibition.
Need I continue?
In life you will find that stereotypes are accurate to a degree, that's the reason why they became such to begin with, but just because there are people who can't behave in a mature, responsible, or even in a manner remotely befitting of a worthwhile human being does not mean that their behavior is a representation of any group.

Just looking for an explanation from a man as to why this might have happened. The pressures to be "macho", etc...is it really that bad that a man would just sit there and watch someone be brutalized versus help them?
Surely you all have been privy to such occurances in your lives at some point.
(And for you slow ones, I don't mean that you've all sat around watching someone get gang raped, I'm talking about the above paragraph regarding the pressures to be "macho")

That is just wrong in every way. I can't believe no one jumped in to help the girl, what a bunch of cowards. Anyone who stood watching and did nothing needs to be indicted and jailed along with the perps. They are just as much to blame for letting it happen.
A "man" wouldn't let this happen, only cowardly boys, regardless of age. I guarentee you that most of the damn observers had cell phones and could have called 911 in the very least.

wtf, never witnessed a rape myself.
I understand you being upset. If this girl was resisting and there was a group around watching they should all be given a tiny cell to sit in while they think about what they should have done to help her.

No, I haven't, but I will respond with a guess.
Would I have jumped in and tried to take on the group? Probably not. I would prefer to stay alive. I would have left and gone for reinforcements. I am stereotyping a bit, but first guess would have been that is was gang activity.
Thanks for clarifying some in your second post (I think). The OP reads as an indictment of all men.

Growing up, I was often pressured to participate in gang rapes, but for some reason I decided not to do so.
