The Senate campaign of Dr. Rand Paul has announced that he has the official support of Sarah Palin, who is referred to as a "conservative icon" on the campaign website.
First reported as imminent on this blog four days ago, the endorsement is being celebrated by the Paul camp.
"Governor Palin is providing tremendous leadership as the Tea Party movement and constitutional conservatives strive to take our country back,” Paul said in a statement.
“Sarah Palin is a giant in American politics. I am proud to receive her support.”
The story already has the attention of the national media--Politico has a story on it already--although it should be said that Palin has not issued any statement yet.
I hate the word conservative because it means nothing any more--at least to me. I'm not liberal, though, so I guess I get pigeonholed the other direction. That said ...
Palin's endorsement means about, umm, zero to me. I'm embarrassed that so many folks whose political ideology is similar to mine have somehow, inexplicably fallen under her spell. Cute gal, probably not as stupid as she appears ... but I'm not voting for her--ever. Nor will my ears prick up when she endorses another candidate.
