Last night, two masked men dressed in black full-body armored outfits, similar to those worn by ninjas or by SWAT riot police, invaded a home on Greenwood Avenue and terrorized a grandmother, her daughter, and her grandchildren.

The two men broke into the house simultaneously and tactically, one through the back door and one through an upstairs window. They had ample handcuffs for everyone, cuffing Thelma Briscoe and her family. The men were also reportedly carrying high-tech hand weapons with laser sights.

According to WLKY, Briscoe said the men kept asking "Where is he?" and she had no idea who they were talking about. After twenty minutes of this confused interrogation leading nowhere, two LMPD officers showed up. The two men in black fled out the back door and got away. Let me repeat - because this is the part I don't understand - they got away.

Then again, it might have been for the best that they escaped, since they had superior body protection and superior firepower to the police. It's extremely fortunate that no one was seriously hurt.

The LMPD were responding to Thelma's daughter's cellphone emergency call, which the masked gunmen were unaware of. WLKY quoted Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell as saying: "We don't believe those particular individuals were targeted, but an individual may live in the home and was not there."

The family disagrees, and insists these lunatics in black riot gear must have had the wrong house entirely.

One thing's for sure, this was no ordinary break-in. The body-armored men in black apparently made no attempt to rob the occupants of the home; their only concern was to locate this mysterious unnamed man. And it's not often you hear of mundane street criminals running around in black kevlar ninja jumpsuits.

So what really happened here? Were they common thugs who just happen to shop from the Brigade Quartermasters catalog? Were they with a serious organized crime crew? Or was this some sort of covert "black op" gone horribly wrong?

Contact the LMPD if you have any information about the identity or whereabouts of these men: 574-LMPD.

Was the family still cuffed when the police arrived?

The number one rule in ninja-ing is "No more than 1 ninja per mission". Any more than 1 on a mission ensures failure. Clearly, they weren't good ninjas.

Alida, yes, there will be an update if more info becomes available. There are a lot of interesting stories like this which local media initially report but then never follow up on to tell us what, if anything, ever became of the case. We plan to keep an eye on this one.

scary to think that these guys could do this again anywhere to anyone anytime and that even if the cops come they may not be able to defend you against these technologicaly advanced crooks

"they may not be able to defend you against these technologicaly advanced crooks."

I'm not sure they're exactly Terminators or anything, definitely unorthodox and maybe even taking it out of a movie they saw. Either way, they spent all that time on theatrics and didn't even bother to do intell first, they're total noobs.

They had body armor and pistols with lazer sights not anything hi tech to say the least. To say they have hi tech weapons without getting the facts could create a panic. The fact is the cops would have the same body protection, kevlar is kevlar. What those thugs dont have is advanced weapons training, and no Modern Army Combatives Training, or SWAT for that matter, other than what was seen in the movies. So to me the gunmen would have been outmatched. This was more than likely over drugs, money, or something gang related as an indiviual they were looking for was targeted, and nothing was taken. Meaning the rest of the general public should be ok from them provided they don't get the wrong address again, but they do need to be caught and done so quickly.

just another faction of the gov. less known about. To catch a bad guy u must think like a bad guy. There is a great deal of uneasyness in america today, leading to more covert ops and sp recon department opening up.

This is how the fbi were started. They needed a faction of people who could operate on the same playing level as the wise guys(lacosta nostra). Now we see this happening again, w/ more rights being pulled from us. guantauntomo bay
