Happy Thursday. Today the Mayor is holding a press conference to announce what's in store for Light Up Louisville, and tonight I'll be at the Signature Chefs event benefiting the March of Dimes. In the news. . .

Local GOP Focused on Transparency: Republican candidates Hal Heiner and Chris Thieneman hope to become the first GOP mayor here in 40 years. Both are gearing up -- Heiner calling for a city audit and Thieneman touting his independence from influence. Check out Gabe Bullard's piece.

Name Recognition, But: Yesterday a judge said she would not seal Jim King's old divorce records. After originally gearing up to fight the release, King now says he won't take on the C-J on this one.

A Response to Cordish: King is co-sponsoring an ordinance designed to avoid future scandals like the one in which Cordish Companies refused to say how it spent proceeds of a city $950,000 forgivable loan. Future loan recipients have to say how they spend the money, even if it's to bring Paris Hilton to town for a Derby party.

But it's THE Place for Beer Pong Tourneys: There's more controversy down at Fourth Street Live over charges of racism, as Mojo reported yesterday.

Seat Scramble: Hoops fans are busy figuring out a complex system U of L has created to determine when you get to pick your seats at the new arena. You can try to figure it out here. And get ready to ante up.

Revved Up: Kentucky is now the only site being considered if Harley-Davidson moves its Pa. motorcycle plant. But it sounds like Pa. officials are working pretty hard to keep the operation in York. Prediction: It will stay put.

The Holiday/Christmas Season is Upon Us: Great non-story here. After initially saying the state would use the term "Holiday Tree" to describe its evergreen on the Capitol lawn, Gov. Beshear wised up and issued a statement saying it will be a "Christmas tree." Expect the issue to come up, with Republicans charging that Beshear isn't Christian enough, during his re-election campaign.

Gee Speaks About Brain Surgery: WAVE anchor Dawne Gee spoke about her brain tumor and the surgery she underwent recently. It's a touching, emotional story. She may be back at work next week.

If JIM KING is going to go to bat on the Transparency & accountability issues, He and the Metro Council need to have the Cohonies to to not do it half ass!.....Take Flieshakers advice and make it worth the effort. IF YOU WANT FREE MONEY?>>>>YOU HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR EVERY PENNY....if the propetiary info is so valuable, you wouldn't need the free Money...PERIOD!
Don't waste time on a charade to just make people think you are concerned?,,,,Cause at the end of the day, when the rubber meets the road, if what you do is not effective, You just look like a numbskull.
When Tandy and other metro Councilmen had the chance to hold their feet to the Fire & WORK for the voters and taxpayers, They proved to be Jinniewomen & Chickens_ _ ts.
Maybe the Metro Council needs a Citizens Oversight Committee....to actually get them off their butts and perform the jobs they are supposed to be doing!
