Film Guy at LouisvilleMojo here with the rundown for this Halloween Weekend should you choose to hang out at Stonybrook, Baxter, Village 8, Tinseltown, or any others.

Opening This Weekend:

No mainstream stuff this weekend. Maybe next?

For Your Indie/Art-house Consideration:

“The Cove” – Former dolphin trainer Ric O'Barry (he helped train the multiple “Flipper”s) goes to the small island of Taiji, Japan and tries to expose its dolphin exploitation.

“Good Hair” – Chris Rock comedy doc about black hair styles.

“More Than a Game” – Five talented young basketball players from Akron, Ohio star in this remarkable true-life coming of age story about friendship and loyalty in the face of great adversity. Coached by a charismatic but inexperienced player's father, and led by future NBA superstar LeBron James, the "Fab Five's" improbable nine-year journey leads them from a decrepit inner-city gym to the doorstep of a national high school championship. (Yahoo! Movies)

“Play the Game” – A young ladies man teaches his dating tricks to his lonely, widowed, grandfather, and plays his best mind games to meet the woman of his dreams. Stars Andy Griffith and Doris Roberts.

“A Serious Man” – Coen Bros. movie about a man trying to find clarity in the Sixties.

Special Mention:

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” – Science fiction single feature about Brad and Janet, a happy couple whose car gets a flat. They follow a light to a “Frankenstein” place where they meet Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a scientist (and sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania) and his minions Riff Raff, Magneta, and Columbia who not only help him with his project, but are able to do the “time warp” again.

Not Opening In Louisville:

“The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” – Sequel to the 90's cult classic about two brothers defending their neighborhood from Russians wanting to take over. This time around they're in seclusion in Ireland when word of the death of a priest brings them out of hiding to solve the case. Stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, and Billy Connolly.

“Youth in Revolt” – Michael Cera is a teenager who falls for the girl of his dreams and develops a split personality who creates havoc. Wasn't this “Fight Club?” Also stars Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, M. Emmet Walsh, Justin Long, and Fred Willard

The Rundown: If ever there were a weekend to catch up on movies, or hunt down some rentals, this is it. Speaking of, I'm planning on doing that myself on Friday night. If you haven't seen “Paranormal Activity,” I suggest watching that. Otherwise, try renting “Session 9,” “The Mist,” maybe the director's cut of “1408,” etc.

There you have it: Fend for yourself.
