This doesn't leave applicants a lot of time to get it together, but Brightside is accepting applications for grants to 'green up' the community.
The deadline for Brightside Naturescape Grants is Thursday at 4 p.m. The grants are intended to fund projects like planting trees and community gardens or landscaping neighborhood entrances.
Any non-profit group or suburban city can apply for up to $1,500 in project money, according to the Brightside grant application form, available here.
This is the next step in developing our own brand of citizen journalism.
I'm here to report on what I see going on in Louisville, to look for stories wherever and whatever they are, and to get you to help me.
If you know of something going on that's good, or something that's going on that shouldn't be, let me know. We want to shout it from the rooftops, or - even better - help you to do it.
