I'm not sure I understand this. Why is it that when you write a book, and all of your friends want to be in said novel, that they never buy one. I remember, with my first story, that I had all of my friends telling me that they were going to buy the book. And, that they were SO interested in reading it. Through the first set of books, ONE "friend" bought a book. His name was Andy. Some of who read this know him. Some don't.
What does it take to make someone keep their promises? I'm just curious. Because a lot of people give false promises. And, I, personally, believe that if you make one, you should keep it. What's your thoughts?
I too believe that if you make a promise, it should be kept. I have tried to teach my kids to keep their word. I ask them whether they want to be a person who's word means something or a person that hurts other people with thoughtless ways.
I also have a question. I too am writing a novel. I have 70,000 words already. Getting published looks very complicated. Any advice for a novice writer? It's a historical romance about a ship of women pirates and the man who loves Captain Gypsy.
Well Donna K. The best place you can go, that I've found, is http://www.publishamerica.com They publish everything for free. It's a great starter publisher. The only thing you have to do, that they don't, is advertise it yourself. Which isn't hard. All you really have to do is send a copy to which book store you want to sell it at, and they will either agree or disagree. my book isn't very successful, but that's because I didn't really advertise it. But, that's about it. Go check them out and the site will tell you all you need to know, if you have any more questions that they don't answer feel free to message me.
Publishing with Publish America is "free" hum, news to me. Check out the cost of the book once it is finished. also, do you sign ANY rights over to them? Check the fine print.
The only rights you sign over to them is that they are allowed to solely posses the copyrights to it for 7 years. They are free. Yes, the book is a bit pricey. But, larger amounts sold come with a major discount. Not only that, but authors who publish with them and buy their own books get a large discount as well, Plus they still get their royalties off said purchases. I never paid for anything when I wrote my book or when I had it published. The only thing I had to do was advertise it myself. Which is not a bad thing. If you're up for it. Just go to book stores and give them a copy to see if they are willing to sell it. You do get 2 free copies of the book once you get it published as well. So no need to worry about that. but you can buy more and sell them and you get all the profit that way.
