I guess I should finally share, on March 26th I was told my department was being replaced by other people in the office.
I was given 30 days to try to find something internally (this really is a joke) and help train new people that would be transitioning it to do the work. My last day was set for April 27th, this next Monday. I've been on interviews for 5 places and so far nothing has panned out. Either I didn't want the job or they went with another candidate.
I got my hopes up once already for a job I was sure I was shoe in for. Interview went well, very friendly, very talkative. I sent thank yous personalize and thought I left a good impression. I obviously didn't make enough of one because they went ahead with another candidate and hired someone else. They told me they wanted to keep my resume and that they would be hiring this fall again. I am hoping to be somewhere happy way before then.
I was upset, but am trying to not let it get me down. I have a friend looking into a job at his work that I'm really excited about. He is the one that got me into IT in the first place and I think it'd be great to work with him again. I haven't heard anything back from there, but I'm crossing my fingers. If I get this job I'll consider myself lucky and keep the job as long as possible. I am just trying to not let myself get so excited because I don't want to get let down so badly this time if it doesn't work out.
Wish me luck as I swim through the ocean of jobs that aren't calling back, aren't paying anything and the ones that just plain don't like me.
