Well, to those of you that have been in touch with me recently, you knew that I was looking VERY forward to a wonderful vacation from 8/22/08 to 9/1/08. However, my plans have changed drastically.
My travelling partner, my sister Robin, had a heart attack on Monday, 7/28/08. I rushed her to the hospital on Monday at about 3:30p and she had the heart attack at around 5:00p. Turns out this was the third one she'd had and that she'd now had significant damage to her heart, along with significant blockage to one artery and complete blockage to two of her arteries. They did triple bypass surgery on her on 8/1/08 and she came through it like a champ!
She's now on the road to recovery but our travel plans have been shelved indefinitely. Karen, I'll be e-mailing you separately to discuss my regrets at not being able to meet you and Jona in August as we had planned.
To those of you that think you may have a health issue, I encourage you to go to the doctor and check it out. Robin had two instances where her chest hurt and there were pains in her arm, and these turned out to be "sleeper" heart attacks for which she did NOT consult a doctor, but let them go. Had she gone to the doctor after the first one, things may have been different. We'll never know now. But we're fortunate that she's still with us, and that she'll now take better care of herself.
