I failed to create a write up about Derby, so here goes, 2 wks later...

Just in time for the running of the Preakness!

Millionaire's row, 6th floor of Churchill Downs. I didn't wait on anyone famous, but did have two of the same tables as last year. Had a terrific time, but was a bit disappointed that I didn't make as much money as last year. :( Tables were fantastic and one even said they do not want anyone else to wait on them, just me. YAY ME! :-) Now, if only they could get me an introduction to Tim & Faith whom they apparently know personally because their grandchildren attend the same preschool as the McGraw's little babes. Must be nice to have money!!

Although I have been to Derby without working (both infield and in the stands-yeah, I'm really one of the lucky ones!), I have seen more of the Race itself while working. This year was even better. I stood, side by side with the above mentioned bluebloods, having a grand old time, and watched The Race from start to finish and saw each and every single stride the horses made from my wonderful vantage point on Millionaire's row. I cried during "My Old Kentucky Home" and my heart pounded with excitement as the horses came tearing down the homestretch. Although I didn't bet on the winner, Russell did, and we just about broke even for the day (betting wise).

Once again, I stood side by side with Coach Smith and his wife as the table they escounce themselves each year is beside one of my own. Also in presence was Mr. Martha Lane Collins (not sure if he likes that nickname but I think it's cute--she was a prev governor of Ky for those who do not know the name). Current gov Dickhead Fletcher was in attendance but you're not missing anything unless water hits his table as it did a few years ago--unfortunately, nothing so profound happened this year. A few other politicians who I would not know if I'd not had them pointed out to me were also on my floor (very political).
The people I was most impressed to see:
Kenny Alphin and John Rich. Otherwise known to the Country music world as: BIG & RICH. I even got an autograph!! :-) No, Two Foot Fred was not in attendance that I could see....but then, I would have been looking UP at Big Kenny, not down on the floor for Fred. Sorry, couldn't resist! :-)

Took home a boatload of Derby Flowers, a FULL Bottle of Wine-compliments of one of my tables who INSISTED I take it home, and extremely achey feet.
According to Jo-Jo, I had my crack pipe with me the entire 3 day adventure! :-) It's a joke, folks!
