The adventure of writting a book

I'm not sure I understand this. Why is it that when you write a book, and all of your friends want to be in said novel, that they never buy one. I remember, with my first story, that I had all of my friends telling me that they were going to buy the book. And, that they were SO interested in reading it. Through the first set of books, ONE "friend" bought a book. His name was Andy. Some of who read this know him. Some don't.
What does it take to make someone keep their promises? I'm just curious. Because a lot of people give false promises. And, I, personally, believe that if you make one, you should keep it. What's your thoughts?

I too believe that if you make a promise, it should be kept. I have tried to teach my kids to keep their word. I ask them whether they want to be a person who's word means something or a person that hurts other people with thoughtless ways.

I also have a question. I too am writing a novel. I have 70,000 words already. Getting published looks very complicated. Any advice for a novice writer? It's a historical romance about a ship of women pirates and the man who loves Captain Gypsy.

Well Donna K. The best place you can go, that I've found, is http://www.publishamerica.com They publish everything for free. It's a great starter publisher. The only thing you have to do, that they don't, is advertise it yourself. Which isn't hard. All you really have to do is send a copy to which book store you want to sell it at, and they will either agree or disagree. my book isn't very successful, but that's because I didn't really advertise it. But, that's about it. Go check them out and the site will tell you all you need to know, if you have any more questions that they don't answer feel free to message me.

Publishing with Publish America is "free" hum, news to me. Check out the cost of the book once it is finished. also, do you sign ANY rights over to them? Check the fine print.

The only rights you sign over to them is that they are allowed to solely posses the copyrights to it for 7 years. They are free. Yes, the book is a bit pricey. But, larger amounts sold come with a major discount. Not only that, but authors who publish with them and buy their own books get a large discount as well, Plus they still get their royalties off said purchases. I never paid for anything when I wrote my book or when I had it published. The only thing I had to do was advertise it myself. Which is not a bad thing. If you're up for it. Just go to book stores and give them a copy to see if they are willing to sell it. You do get 2 free copies of the book once you get it published as well. So no need to worry about that. but you can buy more and sell them and you get all the profit that way.

Time and Life

Where does the time go? What is there in the long run? Why do we strive so hard to never remember what we truly did? I mean, yes. Don't get me wrong. We do remember the overall basis of what we did. We remember, sometimes, the feeling that we had. But the complete details are never there. What was I wearing that time I went to that one place. When I met a few friends and had lunch. What was that smell I had lingering in my nostrils when I walked down through the park with her? For that matter, what was HER name?

These are things I can't remember. I remember what happened. I remember what she looked like. I remember what we did. But, everything else is gone. Blank. I can't remember what I ate that day. I can't remember when I awoke that morning. Too many things disappear from our minds that we take so much for granted. Why? Why do we deny the things we always depend the most on? Time. That's the real question. Some things, I know, are important enough to remember. But why not other things? Why do we take these things, doings, for granted? There's not an true explination for it, except we do it so regularly, that we pay no more heed to it than we do to the 60 year old man who died, in a far away land, from old age. When do we start thinking about that kind of thing? on our death beds? Why only then, when we have nothing else to think of, do we grasp at the straws that we have now lost? Why do we only, finally, recognize something that we truly had in our grasps, the most glorious, the most heart stopping moments in our life?

Ofcourse, this is all rheatorical. Forgive my ramblings. And, my questioning life. But, I hope I've given you something to think about as well.

Horror Movie Rant

Alright, time for another rant by yours truly.

Horror Movies

I have some problems with this Genre.

First
What is with people going BACK to these damnable places?!?! You've got to be off your rocker to GO BACK to a place where all this killing is. And personally, Some of these movies are all about people living there...WHY THE HELL do you want to live in a place where A derranged mental patient decides to reside? I personally won't. If I hear something about an axe murderer in my town. I'm not staying there. I'll go visit a town where there's not one. Where there are SANE people...Well, as sane as it gets around this world. Yea, I can understand that the property value is somewhat lessened in areas where alot of people keep dying. But, think about this, PEOPLE ....DYING....doesn't sound like my kinda place.

Second
People tripping over something that's not there. Oka, now I can understand someone tripping over a log, or curb, or even a little bump in the ground. But, I've witnessed people running on a completely FLAT surface and they trip...You wanna know why? Cause they're dumbasses are too busy turning to see if the dudes behind them or not. I would worry more about what's in the way of me getting away from this guy who's apparently behind me than to worry how far back he is. I don't want to see my death coming personally.

Third
With the running and looking back. You seriously think that he's not gonna find a shortcut? In just about every movie you see, A guy/girl who's flipped their nuts, and are chasing someone else usually pops up in front of the person they're chasing. QUIT LOOKING BEHIND YOU! These psychotic derranged people are going to know everything about the town they live in. It's apparently built into their minds or something. Look infront of you ... Another thing on these damned movies, The person who's killing everyone is hardly ever physically fit. Look at Jason. He wasn't very healthy looking ...Yet, all these trackstars that are in these movies can't outrun him. I know you've seen these UBER hot chicks that can't run five feet with any speed. It's all Slooooooooowwwwwwww mooooooootiooooooooonnnnn....

But...right now, that's all I'm gonna rant about for now. I'll think of something else later...
