I recently had this exchange with moderator Chuck from mojo:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

We're actually moving more towards a news-based web site, so we thought it would be less confusing to use the N-word here.

Actually, that's not a trend just on Mojo, but on many sites. Blogs are becoming the vehicle for many news outlets, radio stations, etc.

Best,
- C

=this is a bad call - blogs are not news - hell. most of what is on the news is not news! why not call it what it is? this is unecesary and confusing....

==Hey Folks,
==
==Weve made some minor changes to Mojos main navigation and I wanted to clue you in on them so there is no confusion.
==(Well, OK, less confusion... :-)
==
==Weve removed the BLOGS link at the top of the screen, but this same page can now be found by clicking on the READ NEWS link. The POST NEWS link now takes you directly to the post-a-blog-entry page, and youll find the Edit My Blog option underneath this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Well Chuck and the mojo cognescenti, I think I will respond publically and make it "news"

1. we thought it would be less confusing to use the N-word here...

reply - well, in that case, you thought wrong, it is more confusing...

2. We're actually moving more towards a news-based web site....

reply - oh great, that is exactly what we need - more outlets for opinionated news, like those are not a dime a dozen these days...I am quite sure most of the teens and 20-somethings who post 90% of the new profiles posted every day are here cause they are just hungering for news...yeah, right..

3. Blogs are becoming the vehicle for many news outlets, radio stations, etc..

reply - yes, I officially now am of the opinion that journalism is dead...no objectivity any longer, the facts are so easily dissemintated on the web, that now "news" consists of what some hot head on either end of the political spectrum types while sitting in his room in mom & dad's basement...great...

is news also poetry (good and bad) - poetry (some good, some bad) and a journal some middle aged guy from Shelbyville keeps about his dorky soon to be 8 year old kid..sigh...

4. Actually, that's not a trend just on Mojo, but on many sites..

reply - oh, yeah, I forgot...following the trends established by others is ALWAYS a key to originality and success....umm, not! sooo not. Don't try to be something you are not...it is pitiful...like old white guys hanging out at rave clubs...

be what you are mojo, a quirky, way off center, slightly perverted and unpredictable local social netwroking site that allows borderline nudity and NC-17 content...trying to be Reuters Jr. will be the end of mojo...IMO..a bunch of computer geeks sitting around in partitioned off office space in an old meat packing plant on Mellwood does not a news agency make...

The only problem with blogging the news is that some people just repost stuff from fringe websites, which do not check their sources. And many people do not check their sources, which is what true journalism is all about.
Blogging personal journals on public sites has sort of become passe, unless they are news worthy.
Just my 2 cents, for whatever that is worth.

And you're no media critic, but you won't find us raving about how you keep busy with these blogs.

We will work harder on not changing, so as to stay out of your acerbic crosshairs. Your constructive criticism is noted.

Best,
- Chuck

ahh, I see, mojo is intent on change for changes sake, yes, too right, that was all the rage last October....

jumping out of the frying pan into the fire is also a "change" - careful what you wish for - you may get it..about 20 years ago, I wished I could "change" my tired shaggy 70's hairstyle...and BAM! (see results on thumbnail pic - LOL)
